Work References

The purpose of reference checks is to gather information and verify facts stated by the candidate during the application process and interview.
JISUS make contact with the candidates’ supervisors and/or manager to clarify the candidate’s work performance and to gain any recommendations to assist JISUS to validate our assessment.

References are checked by JISUS at two different times:

>> For temporary employees, JISUS complete the reference checks as soon as possible to ensure we have fully verified and screened candidates who are job ready.
>> For Permanent employees, JISUS complete the references checks when we have determined the final shortlist. If the applicant is currently employed, JISUS may only be able to gain their most recent employers’ reference upon resignation (depending on circumstances), though JISUS would certainly gain prior employee references.

">Reference checks are an excellent tool to assist in making a hiring decision on a prospective employee. Records and notes taken during the reference check are retained by JISUS Recruitment indefinitely. The information gathered during the reference check will include:

>>  The date and time of the telephone call
>>  The name, title and company of referee
>>  A list of questions and responses OR a list of categories and responses by ratings
>>  Understanding reasons for leaving the position and also asking for recommendation for future employment.

If the candidate did not include references on their application or resume, JISUS will insist that they provide at least two or more individuals who have a professional relationship with the candidate, preferably current or former managers. Before references are contacted, JISUS gain the permission of the candidate to check references to avoid any breaches of confidentially.
Referees are validated by researching and confirming their respective positions and contact details, to what is provided by the organization directly. This will ensure that we JISUS are speaking with the named individual and organization, offering full security that the reference check is valid.
